This affix is added directly to stems ending in a vowel. The sound -i- is inserted between it and a stem ending in t-. When added to stems ending in k- or q-, this affix deletes the final consonant sound.

The affix -ngu- is used after stems ending in two vowels or a long vowel or after names that are borrowed from other languages.
